Two Arrested with MDMA and Cannabis in T'puram Vehicle Check

Thiruvananthapuram: The Neyyattinkara excise team arrested two individuals with 51 grams of MDMA and 2.6 grams of cannabis during a vehicle inspection conducted at Mukkola in Vizhinjam on Wednesday evening.

The arrested persons have been identified as Jishnu (30), a resident of Vellarikund, and Sahal Rahman (36), a resident of Malappuram.

According to excise officials, the accused were allegedly involved in supplying narcotic substances at popular tourist destinations, including Kovalam and Poovar. Acting on a tip-off, the team intensified vehicle inspections in the coastal region and intercepted the duo around 5:30 PM while they were traveling in a rented car from Ernakulam.

Preliminary investigations revealed that the accused were allegedly involved in supplying synthetic drugs to youngsters, including students from schools and colleges in the city. Excise officials stated that the seized MDMA has an estimated market value of around Rs 3.5 lakh.

Officials also disclosed that Jishnu had a previous involvement in a ganja case where approximately 4 kilograms of cannabis was seized. The arrest was carried out by a team led by Excise CI J Shamir Khan, along with Preventive Officers M S Arun Kumar and Ajit Kumar, and other personnel.
