Surathkal Police Seize MDMA Worth Rs 4.7 Lakh, Two Arrested

In a significant crackdown on drug peddling, the Surathkal police arrested two individuals on Thursday for allegedly possessing MDMA. The suspects have been identified as Mohammad Arif Paizal, aged 27, and Syed Mishal, aged 20. The arrests were made following a tip-off received by Police Sub-Inspector Sudeep MV.

Details of the Operation

Acting on intelligence, PSI Sudeep MV and his team learned that two individuals were planning to arrive at the Katla Hill Side area in Surathkal on a scooter to peddle MDMA. The police promptly set up a trap and reached the location. Upon arrival, they observed two men standing suspiciously near two scooters. The officers apprehended them and conducted a thorough interrogation. During questioning, both individuals allegedly confessed to possessing MDMA on their scooters.

Seized Items

From Mohammad Arif Paizal, the police recovered 13.3 grams of MDMA, an iPhone 17 Pro Max, and a scooter. From Syed Mishal, they confiscated 5.9 grams of MDMA, an iPhone 16 Pro, and a scooter. In total, the authorities seized 19.3 grams of MDMA, two mobile phones, and two scooters. The combined value of the seized items is estimated at Rs 4,70,000.

A case has been registered against the accused under relevant sections of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act. The police are investigating further to trace the source of the drugs and any potential network involved.
