How to Schedule Emails in Gmail
Gmail offers a built-in feature that allows you to schedule emails to be sent automatically at a later time. This is useful for sending messages outside of business hours, reminding recipients about deadlines, or timing your communications strategically. Here's how to use it on both desktop and mobile.
On Desktop
- Compose your email as usual.
- Click the arrow next to the 'Send' button.
- Select 'Schedule send' from the dropdown menu.
- Choose a suggested time or pick a custom date and time.
- Click 'Schedule send'. The email will be stored in a 'Scheduled' folder until it's sent.
On Mobile (Android & iOS)
- Open the Gmail app and tap the compose button.
- Write your email.
- Tap the three-dot menu in the top right corner.
- Select 'Schedule send'.
- Pick a date and time, then tap 'Schedule send'.
Managing Scheduled Emails
You can view, edit, or cancel scheduled emails by going to the 'Scheduled' label in your Gmail sidebar. Click on a scheduled email to edit the content, change the send time, or cancel it entirely. This gives you flexibility to adjust your communications as needed.
Tips for Using Scheduled Emails
- Use scheduling to send emails during recipients' working hours for better response rates.
- Set reminders for yourself by scheduling emails to yourself.
- Schedule birthday or anniversary greetings in advance.
This feature is available to all Gmail users, including those with free accounts. It's a simple yet powerful tool to improve your email productivity.
