Ranchi: Four individuals were arrested with approximately 4 kilograms of cannabis during separate operations conducted across the city on Friday and Saturday. The raids were initiated following directives from Ranchi Senior Superintendent of Police Rakesh Ranjan, who instructed the district police force to launch a proactive campaign against drug peddlers and their associates.
Raids Based on Tip-Off
Acting on a specific tip-off regarding illegal ganja trading in the Ratu Road area of the city, police executed a raid on Friday that dismantled a racket and led to the arrest of two suspects. According to Kotwali Assistant Superintendent of Police Nikhil Rai, the operation took place around 9 pm on Friday. The two accused attempted to flee upon noticing the police but were apprehended at the scene.
Recoveries and Interrogation
During the raid, law enforcement officials recovered approximately 300 grams of ganja and Rs 6,000 in cash from one of the accused, identified as Pankaj Kumar. From the other suspect, Prakash Singh, police seized Rs 43,000 in cash. Further interrogation revealed that Prakash had stored additional ganja at his residence, leading police to recover around 2.39 kilograms of the substance from his home.
The arrests are part of a broader effort by the Ranchi police to curb drug trafficking in the region. The SSP had emphasized the need for sustained action against drug networks, and these operations mark a significant step in that direction.
