Rudrapur Motorcycle Theft Ring Busted: Student and Lab Worker Arrested
In a significant breakthrough, police in Rudrapur, Udham Singh Nagar district, have arrested two individuals in connection with a series of motorcycle thefts that have plagued the city. The suspects, identified as Bhola Sarkar, a 22-year-old radiology student at a private medical institute, and Vicky Biswas, also 22, who works as an associate at a pathology laboratory, were taken into custody late Wednesday night.
The arrests came after a special police team, formed under the direction of SSP Ajay Ganpati, conducted an investigation into multiple complaints of stolen motorcycles from various locations, including Metropolis Mall, the district hospital, and nearby commercial areas. The team intercepted the two suspects near Sidcul City Park and recovered six motorcycles and one scooter from their possession.
During interrogation, the accused confessed to stealing the vehicles with the motive of making quick and easy money. However, they were unable to sell the stolen vehicles due to the absence of registration documents. SSP Ganpati confirmed that FIRs have been registered against the duo at Pantnagar police station under section 303(2) (theft) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). Efforts are currently underway to trace and contact the owners of the remaining recovered vehicles.
The swift action by the police has brought relief to residents, who had been increasingly concerned about the rising number of vehicle thefts in the area. Authorities have urged citizens to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities to help curb such crimes.
