The National Testing Agency (NTA) is once again under fire after a section of candidates who appeared for the National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT) Entrance Examination 2026 alleged irregularities in their results. The NIFT 2026 final results for undergraduate and postgraduate programmes were declared on June 3. Soon after the results were released, students began sharing posts on Reddit and other social media platforms claiming that their marks, rankings, and attendance records did not match their actual performance in the examination.
Alleged Errors in Marking and Attendance
Among the complaints being widely discussed online are alleged errors in Situation Test marking, unexpected CAT and GAT scores, attendance mismatches, and concerns over biometric verification procedures. Several students claimed they received unusually low Situation Test marks despite performing well. Others alleged that their GAT scores did not match calculations based on the official answer key released by NTA.
A candidate claimed, “I had 733 AIR in UCEED, 35/100 in NID prelims. How did I get 6000+ rank in NIFT? I am not saying I deserve to get under 100 rank but I am definitely capable of getting under 1500. My result is definitely messed up by NTA. They were saying that there were some technical difficulties a few days before the result.”
Attendance and Biometric Issues
Social media posts have also highlighted cases where candidates who attended the examination were allegedly marked absent, while some candidates who did not appear reportedly received marks on their scorecards. One Reddit user wrote, “I took drop for NIFT and still I got 7k+ rank.” Students have further alleged that biometric identification and photo verification were either not conducted properly or were skipped at some examination centres.
Demand for Review and Clarification
The concerns have led many candidates to demand a review of attendance records and score calculations. Students are also seeking clarification from both NIFT and NTA regarding the alleged discrepancies. The controversy comes at a difficult time for NTA, which has already been under intense scrutiny after NEET UG 2026 was cancelled following an investigation into an alleged paper leak.
As of now, NTA has not issued a public response to the specific allegations regarding NIFT 2026 scorecards, attendance records, or biometric verification. Candidates are advised to monitor official channels for updates and to submit any grievances through the proper procedures.
