Mozilla Appoints Anthony Enzor-DeMeo as New CEO in Major Leadership Overhaul
Mozilla names Anthony Enzor-DeMeo as new Chief Executive Officer

In a significant strategic shift, Mozilla Corporation has announced a comprehensive restructuring of its top leadership team. The non-profit tech giant has appointed Anthony Enzor-DeMeo as its new Chief Executive Officer, a move designed to accelerate its mission of becoming the world's most trusted software company.

A New Captain at the Helm

Anthony Enzor-DeMeo, who was most recently the General Manager of the Firefox browser, takes over the CEO role from Interim CEO Laura Chambers. His appointment comes at a critical juncture when global consumer anxiety over data tracking, opaque artificial intelligence systems, and surveillance-based business models is at an all-time high.

Mark Surman, the President of Mozilla, expressed strong confidence in the new leadership. He highlighted that Mozilla's unique combination of global reach, technical credibility, and a long-standing reputation for independence sets it apart. "Anthony understands that trust is more than a brand promise, it's something you earn through how products are built, how data is handled," Surman stated.

Firefox and the AI Battleground

Under Enzor-DeMeo's previous leadership, the Firefox browser saw an accelerated product roadmap, including the integration of responsible AI features. The new CEO has a clear vision for the future, identifying the browser as the central arena for the next phase of digital evolution.

"The browser is AI's next battleground. It's where people live their online lives and where the next era's questions of trust, data use, and transparency will be decided," said Anthony Enzor-DeMeo. He emphasized Mozilla's proactive approach, stating, "Our focus is to build products that earn trust everyday, not ask for it."

Enzor-DeMeo brings a robust track record of building product-led businesses in complex markets, with prior executive roles at companies like Roofstock, Better, and Wayfair before his tenure at Mozilla.

Rounding Out the Leadership Team

In addition to the CEO appointment, Mozilla has bolstered its executive bench with another key hire. The company announced that John Solomon is joining as the new Chief Marketing Officer. Solomon is a veteran brand builder with leadership experience at Therabody, Apple, and Beats by Dre. His expertise was recognized when he was named one of Forbes' 50 Most Entrepreneurial CMOs for 2025.

Furthermore, Ajit Varma has been promoted internally to the position of Head of Firefox, ensuring continuity and deep product knowledge at the core of Mozilla's offerings.

The company stated that under this new leadership structure, progress will be measured against a "double bottom line"—a commitment to both financial sustainability and positive impact on the internet's health and user trust.

This leadership overhaul signals Mozilla's intensified focus on leveraging its trusted brand to navigate the challenges and opportunities presented by the rapid advancement of AI, all while doubling down on its foundational principle of putting people's privacy and agency first.
