The second edition of the LK International Short Film Festival (LKIFF) is set to take place at the Sree Gokulam Convention Centre in Kochi on Tuesday. Organizers have announced that the festival has received over 1,000 official entries from across the nation.
Jury Panel and Evaluation
The jury panel is chaired by acclaimed Malayalam director Kamal. Alongside him, a seven-member committee comprising industry experts will evaluate the diverse pool of submissions. The committee will assess films based on creativity, technical excellence, and storytelling prowess.
Awards and Categories
The festival honors excellence across several categories. The Best Short Film award carries a cash prize of Rs 1,00,000. LKIFF celebrates a wide spectrum of storytelling with dedicated awards for Best Documentary, Best Animated Short, and a specialized school and campus category designed to encourage budding student talent.
From the vast entry pool, 50 films will earn an Official Selection for screening. Among these, 35 films will receive special appreciation awards. Additionally, a Special Jury Award will be presented to a standout film that displays exceptional cinematic vision.
Festival Goals
LKIFF aims to bridge the gap between independent creators and a larger audience while cementing Kochi's reputation as a vital hub in India's short-film circuit, organizers stated. The festival provides a platform for emerging filmmakers to showcase their work and network with industry professionals.
