The Kerala State Chalachitra Academy is organizing a film appreciation camp for children in Kollam, scheduled from Friday to Monday. The initiative aims to foster film literacy and appreciation among young audiences.
Inauguration and Dignitaries
The camp will be inaugurated by Tourism Minister P C Vishnunath at the Sree Narayana Guru Cultural Complex at noon on Friday. Kollam Mayor A K Hafeez will preside over the function. Other attendees include Cultural Affairs Director Divya S Iyer, District Child Welfare Committee Secretary D Shine Dev, camp director and actor Jolly Chirayath, and Academy Secretary C Ajoy.
Participants and Program
A total of 70 children selected from various parts of the state will participate in the camp. Sessions will cover the basics of acting, direction, screenplay writing, cinematography, and editing. The program also includes interactions with film professionals, screenings of classic films, and cultural programmes.
Expert-Led Sessions
Screenwriter Bahul Ramesh, known for films such as Kishkindha Kaandam and Echo, will lead a session on screenplay writing. Actor Amal Raj Dev of the television series Chakkappazham will conduct acting workshops. Other sessions will be led by cinematographer Salu K Thomas, editor-director Appu Bhattathiri, filmmaker-actor Mini I G, and film society activist Nandalal Ramachandran. Classic films including Bicycle Thieves and Kummatty will be screened every evening.
Valedictory Function
The valedictory function and certificate distribution on Monday will be inaugurated by Women and Child Development Minister Bindhu Krishna.
