Chennai: Ethiraj College for Women has offered admission to R Annapoorani, a student from Chennai Girls Higher Secondary School in Saidapet, who scored 428 marks in her Class XII examinations while working in multiple houses after school hours. Abandoned at three months old, she was raised by her grandmother Kamalam, who worked as a domestic help to fund her education. Annapoorani worked in several households after school to support her family and continued working even during her exams.
Recognition of Achievement
Upon learning of her accomplishments, V M Muralidharan, chairman of Ethiraj College for Women, offered her admission to the BSc Computer Science with Artificial Intelligence programme, accompanied by a full fee waiver as a scholarship. S Uma Gowrie, principal of the college, stated that the institution remains committed to supporting talented and determined students who aspire to transform their lives through education, despite challenging circumstances.
