Dhubri Police Bust Fake Marksheet Racket at Academy

Dhubri police on Tuesday busted an alleged fake marksheet racket at English Education Academy in Jhagrarpar Part III village in Dhubri district. During the raid, police seized blank papers, torn mark sheets, two laptops, a computer, a printer, a paper cutting machine, and other documents from the institution.

How the Racket Came to Light

A police source said the case surfaced when Sagar Ghose of Dhubri went to Bidypara Government Boys’ Higher Secondary School seeking admission to higher secondary. The school authorities suspected the mark sheet and other documents and informed police, following which a team raided the academy.

Allegations of Fake Degrees

An informed source alleged the institution was issuing fake HSLC, HS, BA, MA, BCA, and MBA degrees in exchange for payments ranging from Rs 10,000 to Rs 12,000, and sometimes higher amounts for higher degrees.

Education Department's Response

Dhubri inspector of schools Adit Kumar Sarma said the department was taking “serious exception” to the case and that the Dhubri district commissioner had been informed and permission sought on the next steps. “Further action and initiative would be carried out under the supervision of a competent magistrate,” Sarma said.
