In a significant crackdown on drug trafficking, the town police in Daltonganj apprehended two individuals late Thursday night and confiscated 5.5 kilograms of marijuana. The operation was confirmed by police officer Mantu Kumar on Friday.
Arrests and Seizures
The accused have been identified as Chitranjan Kumar Gupta, aged 32, and Nand Kishore Pandey, aged 50. Along with the banned substance, law enforcement officials also recovered cash amounting to Rs 7,200 and a motorcycle that the duo was using for transportation.
Details of the Operation
According to Officer Mantu Kumar, the suspects were en route to a place of worship located in a housing colony within Daltonganj to execute a drug deal. Upon noticing the police, they attempted to flee the scene but were swiftly chased and apprehended by the pursuing officers.
Background of the Accused
Chitranjan Kumar Gupta resides in the Abadganj locality, which falls under the jurisdiction of the Daltonganj town police station. On the other hand, Nand Kishore Pandey is a resident of Chiyanki, an area under the Sadar police station limits. Notably, Gupta has been identified as a serial offender with a prior record of involvement in similar illicit activities.
The successful operation underscores the ongoing efforts of the local police to combat drug-related crimes in the region. Further investigations are underway to determine the extent of the network and any possible links to larger trafficking rings.
