Chennai: The Tamil Nadu Power Distribution Corporation Limited (TNPDCL) has lodged a police complaint against bike-borne individuals who have been stealing power fuses from electricity distribution pillar boxes, leading to frequent power outages in the Avadi area.

Power Outages Plague Residents

Residents of Kamaraj Nagar and TNHB quarters in Avadi have been complaining about power outages for the past week. Local discom personnel noticed that power fuses were disappearing from pillar boxes in the area, prompting an investigation.

Investigation and CCTV Footage

On Monday, when another power cut was reported in Avadi, an assistant engineer and other staff rushed to the spot and examined CCTV footage from a nearby residence. The footage revealed a bike-borne duo escaping with the power fuses. Further review of CCTV footage from the previous week confirmed that the same two individuals were responsible for the thefts.

A formal complaint has been lodged with the Avadi police, and an FIR has been registered. The authorities are now searching for the suspects.
