Harjot Shergill, a wrestler based in Canada who recently clinched the prestigious Under-17 Punjab Bal Kesari title, was honored with a felicitation ceremony organized by the Kapurthala Wrestling Association. The event took place at the Raipur Dabba Olympic Wrestling Academy, situated on Kothran Road in Param Nagar, Phagwara, marking a significant recognition of his athletic achievement.
Ceremony Held During Annual Commemoration
The felicitation was conducted as part of the annual commemoration of Sant Baba Hari Singh Neki Wale, held in the village of Mannanhana. This gathering not only celebrated Shergill's success but also featured traditional wrestling competitions, highlighting the rich cultural heritage of the sport in the region.
Leadership and Recognition
Under the guidance of former international wrestling coach PR Sondhi, the Kapurthala Wrestling Association led the proceedings. The association's president, Rimpal Kumar, who also serves as the Sarpanch of Wajidwal, along with general secretary Reet Preet Pal Singh, presented Shergill with a memento and a ceremonial robe of honor. This gesture symbolized the community's appreciation for his dedication and triumph in wrestling.
