The third day of the TTFI-2 Open State Table Tennis Championship witnessed intense battles and crowning victories at the Wonkar Table Tennis Academy in Vaishali Nagar, Jaipur, on Saturday. The spotlight was firmly on the young talents in the U-19 categories and the advancing stars in the men's singles, with Amit Thanvi, Dimpy Sharma, and Bhuvansh Raj Meena emerging as the day's standout performers.
Young Guns Dominate U-19 Categories
The Under-19 boys' singles was a major attraction, where Bhuvansh Raj Meena showcased remarkable consistency to clinch the championship title. Divyanshu Rajput put up a strong fight to finish as the runner-up. The third and fourth positions were secured by Akshat Sharma and Ved Prakash, respectively, rounding off a highly competitive field.
In the girls' U-19 singles, Dimpy Sharma claimed the top honour after defeating Maulika Dhanvi in a gripping final. Players from Tonk, Kaushiki and Harshita, jointly secured the third place. All participants in these youth categories were awarded prize money for their commendable performances, highlighting the event's commitment to nurturing future talent.
Men's Singles Semifinals Line-Up Finalised
The men's singles competition saw fierce quarterfinal clashes. Amit Thanvi stormed into the semifinals with a commanding victory over Lokesh Nirwan. He was joined in the last four by Raman, who overcame Aritra, Divyanshu, who defeated Rishi, and Akshat, who got the better of Pranay. The stage is now set for thrilling semifinal encounters on the final day.
Sirohi Springs a Surprise in Team Events
In a significant upset, Sirohi emerged victorious over Jaipur in the finals of both the men's and women's team events. The host city's challenge was led by the Table Tigers (men) and the Tonk team (women), who both finished third in their respective categories, securing podium finishes for their efforts.
The event drew a large crowd of parents, players, and table tennis enthusiasts. The presence of past prominent national and international players added prestige to the day, as they were given the honour of distributing medals and trophies to the winners and runners-up.
The organisers announced that the final day of the championship will feature senior category matches, ranging from the 39-plus to the 80-plus age groups. This segment will see top senior players from across the state competing for glory, promising more exciting table tennis action in Jaipur.
