O N Dixit Memorial ITF Tennis Masters Launches in Jaipur
The O N Dixit Memorial ITF World Tennis Masters MT-400 tournament began at the Jai Club in Jaipur on Saturday. This five-day event features competitive matches across multiple age groups. The opening day saw seeded players demonstrating strong form as they moved forward in the competition.
Men's 75 Category Sees Upset and Top Seed Victory
In the men's 75 category, Ashok Jindal delivered a surprising win over Suresh Bajoria with scores of 6-3, 6-4. This hard-fought match secured Jindal's place in the next round. Meanwhile, the top-seeded player in this category, Dhawal Patel, also claimed a victory, confirming his spot in the second round.
Wins Across Various Age Groups
Several players showcased their skills in different age brackets. Mishal Javia triumphed over Anirudh Singh 6-1, 7-5 in the men's 35 category. In the men's 40 group, Shailendra Choudhary defeated Jai Yadav 6-1, 6-3.
Riyaz Ahmed dominated Ashwani Kumar 6-3, 6-2, while Ankur Kapoor secured a win against Pankaj Ahlawat. The men's 45 section saw Samrat Bhasin overpower Jai Ram 6-0, 6-3.
In the men's 55 group, Nishad Jaiprakash prevailed over Rajendra Singh Sisodiya 6-1, 6-2. Lakpa Sherpa thrashed Shyam Sharma 6-0, 6-2 in the men's 60 category, and Bhanu Pratap Singh accounted for Subhash Chandra Sharma 6-1, 6-0.
Sharad Tak emerged victorious in a closely contested match against Dinesh D, with scores of 6-2, 4-6, (10-6). In the men's 65 category, Ponniah Jayaram dismissed Rakesh Lal 6-1, 6-1, and Gorens Boyan made light work of Richpal Singh Jakhar 6-0, 6-2.
Tournament Details and Opening Ceremony
All participants received gift hampers from Parul Panasonic. The opening ceremony is scheduled for January 18 at Jai Club. Awadhesh Kumar, Principal Director (Investigation) of the Income Tax Department, will inaugurate the event.
