The Central Civil Services Cultural and Sports Board is set to host a major sporting event for government employees early next year. The board will organise the All India Services Table Tennis tournament for both men and women in the heart of Chandigarh.
Tournament Dates and Venue
The competitive action will unfold over five days, from January 12 to January 16. All matches will be held at the designated Table Tennis Hall located in Sector-23 of Chandigarh. This event promises to bring together talented paddlers from various government services across the nation.
Trials for Punjab Teams Scheduled
Ahead of the main tournament, selection trials will be conducted to form the Punjab state teams. These crucial trials are scheduled for December 31 at the Polo Ground in Patiala. Participants are required to assemble at the venue by 11 am sharp. This is the primary opportunity for eligible personnel from Punjab to secure a spot on the state squad.
Eligibility and Participation Criteria
The tournament is open to a wide range of government and public sector employees, but with specific conditions. Eligible participants include regular government employees and officials from various departments, as well as personnel from:
- Security services and para-security organisations.
- Central police organisations like RPF, CISF, BSF, ITBP, and NSG.
- Autonomous bodies, public sector undertakings, and banks run by central ministries.
A mandatory No Objection Certificate (NoC) from the participant's department is required for entry. However, the opportunity is not extended to casual or daily wage workers, temporary office staff, or newly recruited regular employees with less than six months of service.
An important point for participants to note is that the cost of travel, accommodation, and food during the tournament will be borne personally by the player. The organising board will not cover these expenses.
This tournament serves as a significant platform for promoting sports and cultural activities among India's civil services, fostering camaraderie and healthy competition outside the workplace.
