Carlos Alcaraz Makes History with Career Slam Completion at Australian Open

In a stunning display of athletic prowess, Spanish tennis sensation Carlos Alcaraz has etched his name in the record books by becoming the youngest male player ever to complete the Career Slam. The 22-year-old achieved this monumental feat on Sunday, securing his maiden Australian Open title with a hard-fought four-set victory over the legendary Novak Djokovic.

Kangaroo Tattoo Plans to Commemorate Victory

Following his historic triumph, Alcaraz revealed a unique way he plans to honor this significant achievement. The young champion announced that he intends to get a kangaroo tattoo, likely on one of his calves, as a permanent reminder of his Australian Open success.

"I already know it's going to be a kangaroo. I just don't know the place. I'm just thinking about the leg, but I don't know which calf, whether it will be the right or left one," Alcaraz shared during the post-match press conference. He elaborated further, stating, "It's gonna be a kangaroo for sure. A little kangaroo."

Nerve-Wracking Final Moments and Emotional Victory

The Spaniard opened up about the intense pressure he felt during the championship's closing moments, admitting to experiencing significant nerves as he approached match point. "Before the last point ... a lot of things came to my mind, to be honest," Alcaraz confessed. "I was really nervous, I was shaking almost. So once I saw the ball go out, I was like 'alright, I made it.' It was a great feeling, thinking about my family and my team as well."

This Australian Open victory marks Alcaraz's first major title since his professional split from coach Juan Carlos Ferrero in December. When asked if he felt extra motivation to prove he could win without Ferrero's guidance, Alcaraz responded candidly: "Not really, to be honest... I didn't think about those people that had doubts about it. I came here playing for myself and playing for my team. I'm just happy to prove all the people were wrong."

Future Goals and Competitive Drive

Looking ahead, Alcaraz expressed his unwavering determination to continue dominating the tennis circuit. The young champion admitted that his primary motivation stems from his intense dislike of losing. "I hate to lose, so that's my motivation. Trying to lose as less as I can," he stated emphatically.

Alcaraz outlined several ambitious goals for his future career, including:

  • Winning all Masters 1000 tournaments at least once
  • Securing the ATP Finals championship
  • Achieving Davis Cup success for Spain

"Yeah, there are some tournaments that I really wanted to win at least once. A few Masters 1000 I just really wanted to complete all the Masters 1000, trying to win each one at least once," Alcaraz explained. "Obviously the ATP Finals and the Davis Cup is a goal as well. I really wanted to achieve that for my country, for Spain. I set up some other goals for the season and I will try to be ready for, or to try to get those goals."

This remarkable victory at the Australian Open not only completes Alcaraz's Career Slam but also solidifies his position as one of tennis's brightest young stars, with his eyes firmly set on even greater achievements in the seasons to come.
