12-Year-Old Boy Critical After Baseball Accident

A 12-year-old boy from New Jersey remains in critical condition after a tragic accident during a baseball game last week. Xavier Taylor was struck in the neck by a baseball on May 26 while participating in pregame warm-ups with his team. The incident caused him to collapse on the field, and he was immediately airlifted to Cooper University Hospital in Camden, New Jersey.

Father Shares Heartbreaking Update

Greg Taylor, Xavier's father, has provided an emotional update on his son's condition. Speaking to NBC Philadelphia, he revealed that Xavier is still in "very critical condition" and remains on a ventilator. "We're pushing day by day to hope that the activity comes back," Greg Taylor said. He also shared a touching moment involving Xavier's younger brother, who brought a pair of shoes to the hospital, saying, "These are for Xavier when he comes home, because he's walking out of here."

Community Rallies Around the Family

The Maple Shade Youth Baseball Association, the league Xavier plays for, has been actively raising awareness about his condition and focusing on supporting the family. In a statement released on Monday, they said, "Our primary goal now is to ensure we are there for them in prayer and faith, helping them every way we can. We deeply appreciate the support shown by the community and those around the country; please keep all prayers coming."

A vigil was held for Xavier, where his father addressed the crowd with a message of hope: "My son Xavier loves this game; he will play this game again."

'Bats Out for X' Campaign

The league also initiated a campaign called 'Bats Out for X,' urging the community to place baseball bats on their porches on Sunday, May 31, in honor of Xavier. A Facebook post from the league stated, "On Sunday evening, 31 May, we ask that all baseball players place one baseball bat out on their porch as we rally together for Xavier while he battles to recover from a freak accident on the baseball field."

Lemonade Stand Fundraiser

The baseball team has been actively supporting the Taylor family by sharing updates and messages of encouragement from the local community and beyond. They have also organized a lemonade stand for Tuesday night at the Charles Street School field to support Xavier. "Xavier's club team will also be holding a lemonade stand to support Xavier and the Taylor family. Please see the flyer for all the details and consider stopping by to show your support," they announced.

The community continues to rally around Xavier and his family, offering prayers and support as they face this challenging time.
