Sunil Narine has further cemented his legacy in the Indian Premier League by becoming only the third bowler to take 200 wickets in the tournament's history. The Kolkata Knight Riders spinner also became the first overseas player to achieve this landmark, highlighting his remarkable consistency and dominance over the years.

Narine now joins an exclusive list of bowlers with 200 or more IPL wickets. Here is the updated list:

- 215 wickets – Bhuvneshwar Kumar (7.68)
- 201 wickets – Sunil Narine (6.79)

- 186 wickets – Jasprit Bumrah (7.32)
- 183 wickets – Dwayne Bravo (8.38)
Match-defining spell against Sunrisers Hyderabad
The milestone was achieved during KKR's clash against Sunrisers Hyderabad. SRH got off to a flying start, with Travis Head smashing 61 off just 28 balls. Ishan Kishan contributed 42 off 29, and the hosts reached 105/1 in the ninth over after a dominant powerplay. However, KKR's spin duo of Varun Chakravarthy and Sunil Narine turned the game around.
Chakravarthy, despite an expensive start, broke the momentum by dismissing Head. A sharp catch by Rovman Powell then removed Heinrich Klaasen cheaply, triggering a collapse. Narine delivered the decisive blow, picking up two wickets in a single over to complete his 200-wicket milestone. His spell, combined with Chakravarthy's 3/36, meant the pair finished with combined figures of 5/67.
From a commanding position, SRH lost their way completely and were bowled out for 165 in 19 overs. It was a clinical comeback by KKR, who will be the happier side after a dominant bowling display.
