The Bengaluru Police have issued a comprehensive set of restrictions ahead of the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) IPL final match, effectively banning all public rallies, processions, and the use of firecrackers. The measures are aimed at maintaining law and order, preventing untoward incidents, and ensuring the safety of fans and the general public during the high-voltage event.
Key Restrictions Imposed
The police order prohibits any form of public celebration, including victory rallies, bike processions, and bursting of crackers in public places. Violators will face legal action under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code and the Karnataka Police Act. The restrictions will remain in force from the evening of the match day until the following morning.
Areas Under Scrutiny
Special focus will be on areas near the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium, Cubbon Park, MG Road, and other major thoroughfares where large crowds typically gather. Police have deployed additional personnel and set up checkpoints to monitor compliance.
Penalties for Violations
- Bursting firecrackers: Fine up to Rs 1,000 and/or imprisonment up to one month.
- Organizing unauthorized rallies: Seizure of vehicles and legal action under Section 144 CrPC.
- Obstructing traffic: Impounding of vehicles and heavy fines.
Public Advisory
Citizens are advised to watch the match from their homes or authorized screening venues. The police have urged fans to avoid spreading rumors or engaging in provocative behavior on social media. Emergency helplines have been set up for reporting any violations.
Previous Incidents
The decision comes in the wake of past incidents where uncontrolled celebrations led to traffic jams, property damage, and injuries. In 2024, similar restrictions were imposed during RCB's playoff matches, which helped maintain order.
Fans are encouraged to support the team responsibly and cooperate with law enforcement to ensure a safe and enjoyable experience for everyone.
