Pant admits LSG fell 10-15 runs short in loss to MI
Pant: LSG 10-15 runs short vs MI

Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) captain Rishabh Pant admitted that his team fell 10-15 runs short of a competitive total after they suffered a six-wicket defeat against Mumbai Indians (MI) in the Indian Premier League (IPL) on Friday.

Pant's honest assessment

Speaking at the post-match presentation, Pant said, "We were 10-15 runs short. We thought 170 would be a good score but we ended up with 156. The pitch was getting slower and we needed a few more runs to defend."

Batting woes

LSG managed only 156/7 in their 20 overs, with Ayush Badoni top-scoring with 55 off 41 balls. No other batter crossed 25. Pant himself scored 18 off 16 before being dismissed by Jasprit Bumrah.

MI chase

Mumbai Indians chased down the target with 6 wickets in hand and 3 balls to spare. Ishan Kishan (40) and Suryakumar Yadav (38) laid the foundation, while Tim David finished with an unbeaten 32 off 18 balls.

Bowling analysis

LSG bowlers started well, reducing MI to 28/2 in the powerplay. However, the middle-order counterattack shifted momentum. Ravi Bishnoi was the most successful bowler for LSG with 2/29.

Impact on standings

The defeat pushed LSG down to fifth in the points table, while MI climbed to third. Pant emphasized the need to bounce back quickly in the next match.
