Not Our Best Day: Cummins on SRH's Loss to KKR

Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) captain Pat Cummins did not mince words after his team suffered a comprehensive 7-wicket loss to Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in the Indian Premier League (IPL). Reflecting on the defeat, Cummins stated, "Not our best day," acknowledging that the team fell short in all departments.

A Disappointing Performance

SRH posted a modest total of 159 runs, which KKR chased down with ease, reaching 161 for 3 in just 15.3 overs. The bowlers struggled to contain the KKR batters, who found boundaries at will. Cummins highlighted the lack of early wickets and the inability to build pressure as key factors in the loss.

Bowling and Fielding Lapses

The SRH bowling attack failed to make inroads during the powerplay, allowing KKR to get off to a flying start. Fielding errors further compounded the problems, as dropped catches and misfields gifted extra runs to the opposition. "We didn't execute our plans well. The bowlers were off target, and the fielding let us down," Cummins added.

Batting Struggles

Earlier, SRH's batting lineup failed to capitalize on a decent start. While openers provided a solid foundation, the middle order crumbled under pressure, losing wickets at regular intervals. The inability to accelerate in the death overs left them with a below-par total. "We were probably 20-25 runs short. We needed a big partnership in the middle, but it didn't happen," Cummins explained.

Looking Ahead

Despite the setback, Cummins remained optimistic about the team's prospects. "It's a long tournament. We have to learn from this and come back stronger. The boys are determined to bounce back," he said. SRH will look to regroup and address their weaknesses ahead of their next match.

The defeat served as a wake-up call for the Sunrisers, who will need to improve their overall performance to stay competitive in the IPL. With several matches remaining, the team has time to rectify their mistakes and mount a comeback.
