NEW DELHI: Gujarat Titans secured a tense four-wicket victory over Punjab Kings in the Indian Premier League on Sunday, driven by a composed half-century from Sai Sudharsan and a disciplined bowling effort from Mohammed Siraj, Jason Holder, and Kagiso Rabada.

Chase Completed in Final Over

Chasing a target of 164 on a slightly challenging pitch, Gujarat reached the finish line in the final over, thanks to Washington Sundar, who remained unbeaten on 40. Sundar finished the game in style by scooping a six off Marcus Stoinis.

Punjab's Innings: Early Collapse and Recovery

Punjab Kings struggled early, slipping to 47 for five within the first nine overs. However, debutant Suryansh Shedge played a fearless knock of 57 off just 29 balls, reviving the innings. He shared a crucial 79-run partnership with Marcus Stoinis, who contributed 40 runs. Shedge's counterattack included several big hits, but Punjab could only manage 163 for nine in their allotted overs.

Gujarat's Bowling Dominance

Gujarat's bowlers played a pivotal role by damaging Punjab's top order early. Mohammed Siraj struck twice in the opening over, dismissing Priyansh Arya and Cooper Connolly. Kagiso Rabada then removed Prabhsimran Singh with a fiery delivery. Jason Holder added to Punjab's woes by taking the wickets of Nehal Wadhera and captain Shreyas Iyer.

Sudharsan Anchors the Chase

After captain Shubman Gill was dismissed early, Sai Sudharsan took charge of the chase with a composed 57 off 41 balls. He shared a useful partnership with Jos Buttler, who made 25 runs, including a couple of big sixes. Sudharsan reached his third fifty of the season before being dismissed near the boundary. With 11 runs needed in the final over after Rahul Tewatia's dismissal, Washington Sundar finished the match with a six.

Gujarat Titans' victory was a result of a balanced team effort, with both bowlers and batsmen stepping up at crucial moments. The win keeps them in contention in the IPL standings.
