Delhi Capitals kept their IPL 2026 playoff hopes alive with a thrilling three-wicket victory over Punjab Kings (PBKS) on Monday. Chasing a target of 168, the Capitals reached 169 for 7 with just two balls to spare, thanks to a composed finish by the lower order.
PBKS Innings: Arya Shines with 56
Sent in to bat, Punjab Kings got off to a flying start as opener Priyansh Arya smashed 56 off just 33 balls, laced with six boundaries and three sixes. He shared a 78-run opening stand with Prabhsimran Singh (18 off 19), which came off only 41 balls. However, after Arya's dismissal in the 9th over, PBKS lost momentum. Shashank Singh (28 off 22) and Jitesh Sharma (22 off 18) tried to accelerate but could not push the total beyond 167 for 6 in their 20 overs.
Bowling Performance
For Delhi Capitals, Mukesh Kumar was the pick of the bowlers with figures of 2 for 32, while Axar Patel and Kuldeep Yadav chipped in with a wicket each.
Delhi Capitals Chase: Nervy Finish
In reply, Delhi Capitals lost opener David Warner early for 12. But a 62-run partnership between Phil Salt (45 off 29) and Shai Hope (30 off 22) steadied the innings. After their dismissals, the middle order wobbled, and the Capitals needed 22 off the last two overs. Axar Patel (18 off 12) and Rishabh Pant (17 off 11) kept the chase alive. In the final over, with 10 needed, debutant Vicky Ostwal hit a boundary and a six off the last two balls to seal the win.
