A Bengaluru commuter has exposed suspicious behavior by a BMTC bus conductor, who allegedly generated random tickets under the government's Shakti scheme. The incident, reported by the user 'Bengaluru Civic' on social media, involves bus number 410FG and occurred near Kamakya at 10:01 AM on June 8, 2026.
Details of the Incident
The commuter observed that the bus skipped its dedicated starting point and instead generated tickets from various stops before picking up passengers. From Nagarabhavi to Kattriguppe, five tickets were generated under the Shakti scheme, amounting to an approximate value of Rs. 90 (Rs. 18 per ticket). The user noted that similar fake tickets were generated from different stops before the bus was actually boarded.
Social Media Exchange
The commuter posted evidence on Twitter, including a picture of the fake tickets, and tagged the official BMTC handle. In response, BMTC tweeted: 'Please provide the ticket/vehicle details, date, and time for necessary action.' The user later shared a genuine ticket and reiterated that fake tickets were generated just before it.
This practice, if confirmed, constitutes a misuse of the Shakti scheme, which provides free travel for women in Karnataka. The incident has raised concerns about fare evasion and revenue loss for the state transport corporation.
BMTC has assured action upon receiving the required details. The commuter urged the corporation to take a close look into the matter, as such incidents are reportedly common in many buses.
