A tragic road accident in Pune's Junnar taluka claimed the lives of four farm workers on Sunday evening. The incident occurred at Bankar Phata near Dingore village when a speeding Maharashtra State Road Transport Corporation (MSRTC) bus collided with their motorcycle.
Details of the Accident
The accident took place around 8 pm on Sunday. According to the police, the MSRTC bus was traveling between Vitthalwadi in Thane district and Pathardi in Ahilyanagar district. While attempting to overtake another vehicle, the bus driver lost control and hit the motorcycle coming from the opposite direction. The bus was reportedly speeding at the time of the collision.
Victims Identified
The deceased were identified as Shivram Paradhi (26), Ashish Bhale (24), Khandu Bhale (25), and Deepak Bhale (28), all residents of Dingore village. They were farm workers who had gone to work near Bankar Phata earlier that day. Due to the lack of public transport in the area at night, they were returning home on Ashish Bhale's motorcycle.
Police Action
Assistant Inspector Dnyaneshwar Bajgire of the Otur police station stated that the bus driver, a resident of Akola district, has been arrested. He has been charged under sections 106 (causing death by negligence) and 281 (rash driving) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). The police are investigating the incident further.
Rescue and Medical Response
After the accident, local residents and police personnel rushed the victims to a nearby hospital, where doctors declared them dead on arrival. All four victims had sustained severe injuries. Fortunately, no passengers on the bus were injured.
