Watson Dismisses Concerns Over Green's Price Tag
Ahead of KKR's opening match against Mumbai Indians at Wankhede Stadium on Sunday night, assistant coach Shane Watson firmly rejected these worries. He emphasized that Green, known for his aggressive play, thrives on freedom rather than feeling constrained by expectations. "I've witnessed players crumble under high price tags in the past, where overwhelming expectations stifled their performance," Watson stated during a press briefing on Saturday. "However, Cameron certainly doesn't see it that way. His mindset in the IPL is that he has nothing to lose."
Watson highlighted Green's previous IPL successes, noting that when Mumbai Indians bought him for INR 17.5 crore in 2023, he delivered an impressive season with 452 runs at a strike rate of 160.28 and six wickets. "This history shows he performs best when playing freely, and we've seen how beneficial that approach has been over the last couple of seasons," Watson explained. He added that Green's recent training sessions have been marked by excitement and liberty, further dispelling concerns about the price tag affecting his game.
