Cricket Takes Priority: Vaibhav Sooryavanshi Skips Class 10 Board Exams
In a bold move highlighting the demands of professional sports, India's teenage batting sensation Vaibhav Sooryavanshi has opted to skip his Class 10 board examinations this year. Cricketing commitments have taken precedence in his rapidly ascending career, leading to his absence from the crucial academic tests.
Exam Absence Confirmed by School Authorities
The CBSE Class 10 exams began on February 17 and will continue until March 11, but Vaibhav was notably missing on the opening day. According to school officials, all necessary formalities had been completed well in advance. His examination form was submitted, and his admit card was duly issued, with Poddar International School designated as his allotted centre. However, he failed to report for the paper.
Confirming the absence, Poddar International School principal NK Sinha stated in Hindi: "Vaibhav Suryavanshi is absent today. He did not come to the exam centre. As per CBSE policy, we have marked him absent. If a student is not present for the exam, we have to record them as absent. We had hoped he would come to take the exam, but he has many other responsibilities. There might be a cricket match or practice. I think he will definitely take the exam next time."
Purple Patch in Cricket Career
Vaibhav's decision comes at a time when he is enjoying an exceptional run of form with the bat. At the recently concluded Under-19 World Cup 2026, he emerged as India's leading run-getter and the second-highest scorer overall. In seven innings, he amassed a staggering 439 runs at an impressive average of 62.71 and a blazing strike rate of 169.50, including one century and three fifties.
He capped off the tournament in spectacular style, smashing 175 runs off just 80 balls in the final. This innings was studded with 15 fours and 15 sixes, earning him both Player of the Match and Player of the Series honours, solidifying his status as a rising star in Indian cricket.
Future Prospects and IPL Commitment
Looking ahead, Vaibhav is set to represent the Rajasthan Royals in IPL 2026 under the captaincy of Riyan Parag.
