Patna: Two youths lost their lives after an unidentified vehicle struck their motorcycle on Govindpur main road under Phulwarisharif police station area in Patna on Saturday night. The accident occurred when they were returning home after purchasing vegetables from Khagaul. The impact was so severe that both sustained critical injuries and fell onto the road.
Police reached the spot after being alerted by locals and rushed the victims to the trauma centre at AIIMS-Patna, where doctors declared them dead during treatment. The deceased have been identified as Kumar Ravi (23) and Sonit Kumar (18), both residents of Govindpur village.
Family members said Ravi had celebrated his birthday with his family on June 5, just a day before the accident. His father, Vipin Kumar Mishra, works as a technician at ICAR (Indian Council of Agricultural Research). Ravi was the only son among two siblings, and his marriage talks were underway, with preparations scheduled to begin in November.
The second victim, Sonit, had recently cleared his intermediate exams and was preparing for higher studies and competitive exams. Originally from West Champaran, his father, Hari Lal Ram, works as a driver at BIPARD (Bihar Institute of Public Administration and Rural Development).
Phulwarisharif SHO Mohammad Ghulam Shahbaz Alam said, “Police are scanning CCTV footage of the area to trace the vehicle involved in the hit-and-run case.”
