Rajkot: Two brothers were killed and five members of their family injured when a Scorpio, allegedly driving on the wrong side, rammed into their Eeco car at Gondal Chowkdi in Rajkot on Monday afternoon, police said.
Victims and Injured
The deceased were identified as Shamji Patadia, 70, and his younger brother Magan Patadia, 60. The injured include Magan's wife Hansa, Shamji's wife Geeta, and three other family members. All were shifted to Civil Hospital for treatment.

Police said CCTV footage shows the Eeco going from Kothariya Solvent towards Gondal Chowkdi when it was hit head-on by the Scorpio coming from the wrong direction. The crash occurred around 2pm at the busy junction that connects Ahmedabad and Rajkot with Junagadh-Somnath. The impact drew a large crowd and led to traffic congestion for some time.
Family Background
The family, residents of the Chunarawad Chowk area of Rajkot, was returning home from a social function in Gondal when the accident occurred. Magan Patadia is survived by a son and a daughter.
Investigation
Aji Dam police registered a case and are investigating the circumstances leading to the collision. Authorities are examining CCTV footage and gathering witness statements to determine the exact cause of the accident.
The incident has raised concerns about reckless driving and wrong-side violations on city roads. Traffic police have been urged to take strict action against such offenses to prevent future tragedies.
