Three killed, five injured in Agra Expressway crash

A tragic road accident occurred on the Agra-Lucknow Expressway on Sunday, resulting in the deaths of three individuals and injuries to five others, including a three-year-old child. According to police reports, the Multi Utility Vehicle (MUV) in which the victims were traveling collided with a container truck from behind. The vehicle was reportedly speeding, and the driver is believed to have dozed off at the wheel.

Details of the Accident

The occupants were natives of Banka district in Bihar. They had visited Ayodhya two days prior and were en route to Churu in Rajasthan via Lucknow and Vrindavan when the accident occurred. The impact was so severe that the front portion of the MUV became lodged inside the truck and was dragged for approximately 30 meters.

Victims Identified

The deceased have been identified as brothers Shankar Kumar, 34, and Sunil Kumar, 32, who performed music at religious functions and weddings, along with their cousin, Preeti Kumari. The injured include the driver, Mohammad Soaib, 28; Raju Kumar, 33; his wife Pramila Kumari, 30; Ayansh, 3, son of Sunil Kumar; and Pooja Kumari, Sunil Kumar's wife.

Rescue and Investigation

Upon receiving information about the accident, a team from Fatehabad police station rushed to the spot and transported the injured to Community Health Centre (CHC) Fatehabad. They were later referred to SN Medical College in Agra for further treatment. Police stated that the container truck driver fled the scene after the accident, abandoning the vehicle.

Fatehabad Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Imran Ahmed said, "The bodies have been sent for postmortem examination. The damaged vehicles have been removed from the expressway, and traffic is moving normally. We are trying to trace the truck driver."
