Dumka: A tragic road accident occurred on Tuesday morning in Godda district, Jharkhand, claiming the life of a 17-year-old girl and leaving four others injured. The incident took place on the Amdiha over-bridge under Pathargama police station limits when the SUV they were traveling in collided with a divider.
The impact of the collision was severe, leaving the vehicle mangled. Sara Tiwari (17), one of the passengers, was killed on the spot. The accident happened around 7 am, according to police reports.
Police stated that six people were traveling in the vehicle, including two men, two women, and two adolescent girls. They were en route to Silchar in Assam to attend a wedding. The driver, Dev Tiwari (42), allegedly dozed off and lost control of the vehicle, causing the accident.
Eyewitnesses reported that the speeding vehicle rammed into the divider on its right side. The force of the collision hurled the SUV about 20 feet into the air. It then landed on the wall of a bridge on its left side and flipped over.
Sara was the daughter of Dev, who was driving the vehicle. The family resides in Khelgaon, Ranchi.
An officer from Pathargama police station said, "Preliminary investigation suggests that the vehicle was speeding and the driver lost control."
Authorities are continuing their investigation into the incident. The injured have been taken to a nearby hospital for treatment.
