Four teams emerged victorious, earning crucial full points in their respective encounters. In a parallel event, a 5 km marathon organized by the district Athletic Association and Kishna Diamond saw enthusiastic participation at Green Park.
Cricket Matches Deliver High-Octane Performances
At Sapru Ground, BCA Legends secured a convincing win over Knight Schochers by seven wickets. Chasing a target of 139, BCA Legends reached 141 for the loss of only three wickets, thanks to an unbeaten 82 from Lavish Srivastava and 34 not out from Dharmendra Yadav. Knight Schochers had posted 138 for 8, with Avinash top-scoring with an unbeaten 74.
Over at the PAC Ground, Metador Foam dominated their match against Patel Properties, winning by eight wickets. Patel Properties set a competitive total of 168, but Metador Foam's openers, Divyanshu Trivedi (69 not out) and Shantanu Singh (78 not out), made light work of the chase, finishing at 172 for 2.
Kalawati and Crazy Rangers Seal the Day
The Kanpur South Ground hosted a closely fought contest where Kalawati Super Kings defeated Dam Charges by 15 runs. Kalawati posted 170 for 7, powered by Saurav Pathak's 68 not out and Ganesh's 37 not out. Dam Charges fought hard but were bowled out for 155, with Devendra scoring 58.
At the HBTU Ground, Crazy Rangers chased down a target of 184 to beat Rising Kanpur Warriors by five wickets. The Warriors had set a strong total of 183 for 5, but the Rangers matched it exactly, finishing at 183 for 5 as well, with Ravi Sonkar's all-round performance of 3 wickets and an unbeaten 30 steering them to victory.
Green Park Hosts Spirited Marathon
Beyond the cricket pitches, sporting spirit was on full display at Green Park with a 5 km marathon. The event, flagged off by sponsors Santosh Bajpai and Sarthak Bajpai around 7 a.m., saw around 72 runners participate. Umesh Prasad and Tej Pratap secured the top two spots in the men's category, while Amisha and Pal led the women's group. The event highlighted inclusivity, with 76-year-old Vijay Kumar Chaurasia and six-year-old Amisha successfully completing the race.
