The wicketkeeper-batsman smashed an unbeaten 138 off just 56 balls, the highest individual score in IPL history at this venue, as Chennai chased down Mumbai's challenging total of 209 for five with 11 balls to spare.

Samson's innings was a masterclass in aggressive batting, featuring 14 fours and 9 sixes. He reached his century off just 41 balls, the fastest by a Chennai batsman in the IPL. His partnership of 182 runs for the second wicket with Ruturaj Gaikwad, who scored a steady 72 off 48 balls, completely took the game away from Mumbai.
Mumbai's Innings
Earlier, Mumbai Indians posted a competitive total thanks to a brilliant 89 off 48 balls from Suryakumar Yadav and a quickfire 45 from Ishan Kishan. However, their bowlers had no answer to Samson's onslaught. Jasprit Bumrah was the most economical bowler for Mumbai, conceding 42 runs in his four overs, but the others leaked runs heavily.
