Sachin Tendulkar's Special Session Boosts Mumbai Team Morale
Cricket icon Sachin Tendulkar graced the Mumbai Cricket Association's ground in BKC on Wednesday morning, conducting a unique 'Question & Answer' session with the Mumbai team. This motivational gathering took place just ahead of the highly anticipated Ranji Trophy quarterfinal clash against Karnataka, scheduled to commence on Friday.
Interactive Guidance from the Master Blaster
Mumbai captain Shardul Thakur expressed immense gratitude for Tendulkar's presence, emphasizing that the session transcended a mere pep talk. "We were fortunate to have Sachin sir in our dressing room today," Thakur remarked. "It evolved into a comprehensive Q&A where players and coaches posed diverse questions regarding approach, preparation, cultivating a winning mindset, and managing pressure in challenging scenarios." He highlighted that Tendulkar's advice has consistently proven invaluable for the Mumbai squad, with all players cherishing wisdom from one of cricket's greatest.
Players Share Their Experiences
In-form batsman Siddhesh Lad, currently the fifth-highest run-scorer in the Ranji Trophy with 737 runs in seven matches at an average of 92.12, described the session as highly interactive. "We inquired about numerous aspects, including how he coped with injuries and the weight of expectations," Lad shared. "He revealed that he never allowed injuries to deter him, accepting them as an inherent part of the sport."
Spinner Shams Mulani added that having the 'God of cricket' share his experiences was profoundly motivating. "We discussed handling pressure situations, converting fifties into centuries, and received tips on batting, bowling, and fielding," Mulani noted. "Hearing about his transition from international to domestic cricket was particularly inspiring. Even implementing a fraction of his guidance could significantly enhance our performance in the knockout stages." The session lasted approximately 30-40 minutes, with Tendulkar actively engaging and demonstrating a keen desire to mentor the players.
Star-Studded Karnataka Squad Awaits
The Mumbai team faces a formidable Karnataka side featuring Test opener KL Rahul and Karun Nair, who returns after recovering from a hand injury. The lineup also includes former captain Mayank Agarwal, current skipper Devdutt Padikkal, R Smaran, and India pacer Prasidh Krishna. Karnataka previously defeated Mumbai by 55 runs in the Vijay Hazare Trophy quarterfinals earlier this year, setting the stage for a thrilling rematch.
