SA20 Season 4 Squads Updated: Williamson Returns, Key Changes Announced
SA20 Season 4: Updated Squads Revealed Before Opener

The SA20 league has officially announced the updated player rosters for its highly anticipated fourth season. This announcement comes just before the tournament's opening match, which will see MI Cape Town take on Durban's Super Giants at Newlands on Friday.

Key Player Returns and Squad Reshuffles

Durban's Super Giants have received a major boost with the return of former New Zealand captain Kane Williamson. Williamson, who was the team's leading run-scorer last season, rejoins the Kingsmead-based side. He takes the place of Bangladesh's left-arm spinner, Taijul Islam.

Joburg Super Kings have implemented several changes to their lineup. They have drafted in Matthew de Villiers, Jarren Bacher, and Duan Jansen. De Villiers comes in for West Indies opener Brandon King, while Bacher is a temporary replacement for England seamer Reece Topley. Teenager Jorich van Schalkwyk, who was initially named as a replacement for James Vince, has now joined South Africa's U19 World Cup squad, leading to Jansen's inclusion. Both Topley and Vince are expected to rejoin the Super Kings later in the season.

Defending Champions and Youth Focus

The defending champions, MI Cape Town, have made a like-for-like switch by bringing leg-spinner Thomas Kaber back to Newlands. Kaber replaces Tabraiz Shamsi and has been part of the franchise for the previous two seasons.

Paarl Royals continue to invest in youth, calling up English teenager Thomas Rew as a temporary replacement for Dan Lawrence. Fast bowler Okuhle Cele has also joined their squad, replacing JJ Basson, who will be on duty with the South African U19 World Cup team.

Major Overhaul for Pretoria Capitals

Pretoria Capitals have undertaken significant post-auction reshaping of their squad. They have brought in the West Indies duo of Shai Hope and Roston Chase, replacing Will Jacks and Bayanda Majola. English bowlers Sajid Mahmood and Craig Overton have been replaced by Jordan Cox and Tymal Mills. Cox, a former SA20 winner with Sunrisers Eastern Cape, and two-time T20 World Cup champion Andre Russell will arrive late. Keith Dudgeon and Daniel Smith will fill in temporarily.

Sunrisers Eastern Cape will start the season without Afghanistan spinner AM Ghazanfar, who is unavailable for the opening phase. Sri Lanka's Tharindu Rathnayake has been named as his temporary replacement.

The stage is now set for an exciting fourth season of the SA20, with teams finalizing their squads ahead of the opening clash at Newlands.
