Quinton de Kock out of MI vs SRH match due to wrist injury

Quinton de Kock has been ruled out of today's Indian Premier League match between Mumbai Indians and Sunrisers Hyderabad at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. The veteran wicketkeeper-batter sustained a hit on his wrist during a practice session, forcing a late change in the playing XI.

Hardik Pandya confirms replacement

Mumbai Indians captain Hardik Pandya confirmed the development during the toss. He stated that Ryan Rickelton will take de Kock's place in the lineup. Pandya won the toss and elected to bat first, citing the conditions as favorable for batting.

"We're going to bat first. Looks like a good, breezy day, as you mentioned, slightly cold compared to generally. I don't think dew will be a factor, we're gonna keep in mind and we're just gonna bat and see how much we can score. Mitchell (Santner) was unfortunate, and so was Quinny today. He just did something to his wrist. We have a couple of changes for this team. Ryan (Rickelton) comes in place of Quinny. We've got Robin Minz," Hardik said during the toss.

Impact on Mumbai Indians' top order

De Kock's absence is a significant blow for Mumbai Indians at the top of the order. The South African opener brings immense experience and the ability to provide quick starts. His injury, reportedly sustained during nets, forced the team management to make a last-minute adjustment. Ryan Rickelton, a South African wicketkeeper-batter, will now open the innings alongside Will Jacks.
