Norton Motorcycles has officially unveiled the new Atlas GT, a middleweight adventure-touring motorcycle, revealing its full specifications. The British brand, backed by TVS Motor Company, also introduced the standard Atlas alongside the road-focused Atlas GT for the UK and European markets. The Atlas GT is expected to make its way to India in the future.
Engine and Performance
Powering the Atlas GT is a 585cc liquid-cooled parallel-twin engine featuring a 270-degree crankshaft. This motor generates 69 bhp at 9,300 rpm and 57.5 Nm of torque at 7,500 rpm. It is mated to a 6-speed gearbox and comes standard with a slipper clutch and a bidirectional quickshifter.
Chassis and Suspension
The motorcycle is built around a high-strength steel trellis frame, with the engine serving as a stressed member. Suspension duties are handled by fully adjustable KYB components at both ends. The Atlas GT features a 43 mm upside-down front fork with 140 mm of wheel travel, while the rear gets a fully adjustable monoshock with hydraulic preload adjustment and 140 mm of travel. Braking is managed by dual 310 mm semi-floating front discs with radial calipers and a 270 mm rear disc. The Atlas GT rides on 17-inch cast-alloy wheels at both ends and features a lower 815 mm seat height compared to the standard Atlas.
Electronics and Features
One of the biggest highlights of the Atlas GT is its extensive electronics package. The motorcycle incorporates a Bosch six-axis IMU, enabling lean-sensitive ABS, cornering traction control, and cornering cruise control. It also includes wheelie control, rear slide control, and five riding modes: Urban, Rain, Sport, Tour, and Enduro. The tech package boasts an 8-inch TFT touchscreen display with integrated navigation, Bluetooth and Wi-Fi connectivity, smartphone integration, and support for the Norton Rider app. Riders can access ride telemetry, over-the-air software updates, and call and music controls through the system.
India Launch Prospects
While Norton has not yet announced an official India launch timeline, the Atlas GT is expected to be among the key products for the Indian market, where interest in middleweight adventure motorcycles continues to grow.
