Mitch Morse backs Josh Allen to beat Patrick Mahomes and win Super Bowl in 2026
Mitch Morse backs Josh Allen over Mahomes for 2026 Super Bowl

Josh Allen enters the 2026 season with another chance to silence the one criticism that continues to follow him. The Buffalo Bills quarterback has piled up individual accolades and playoff appearances, but a Super Bowl ring still sits just out of reach.

Now, a former player who knows both sides of the rivalry believes that could finally change. Former Kansas City Chiefs and Buffalo Bills center Mitch Morse recently weighed in on the Josh Allen-Patrick Mahomes debate, and his answer left little room for doubt.

Speaking on NFL Network's Good Morning Football, Mitch Morse made it clear where he stands in the long-running discussion surrounding Josh Allen and Patrick Mahomes. "Who can refute that Patrick Mahomes is one of the greatest quarterbacks of all time?" Morse said. "He's going to win more Super Bowls, but I feel like it's Josh Allen's time."

Morse even added a light-hearted twist to his prediction. "The Holy Spirit has told me in my dreams. This is what's supposed to happen."

The comments carry weight because Morse spent time with both franchises. He played for the Chiefs from 2015 through 2018 and later joined the Bills in 2019. During his five seasons in Buffalo, he became one of Allen's most trusted protectors and earned a Pro Bowl selection.

His prediction also arrives at a fascinating moment in the AFC. For years, Mahomes and Allen have stood at the center of the conference's biggest rivalry. Yet the results have favored Kansas City. Mahomes owns multiple Super Bowl titles and has repeatedly ended Buffalo's playoff runs.

Still, there are reasons why some believe the gap has narrowed. Buffalo enters the new season with strong expectations after another deep playoff push. Allen remains one of football's most complete quarterbacks, capable of changing games with both his arm and legs. The Bills also continue to build around him with a balanced offense led by running back James Cook and veteran receiver D.J. Moore.

Meanwhile, the Kansas City Chiefs face questions at wide receiver despite Patrick Mahomes remaining the league's gold standard at quarterback. The Chiefs still have one of the NFL's most respected coaching staffs, but several young pass catchers must take on larger roles this season.

That is why Morse's prediction has generated attention. He did not dismiss Mahomes' greatness. Instead, he argued that Allen may finally have the pieces needed to reach the mountaintop.

Whether that prediction comes true remains to be seen. But heading into 2026, one former Kansas City Chiefs veteran believes the AFC's biggest quarterback race could be ready for a new winner.
