A 28-year-old man was crushed to death under a soil-laden tractor in Lowagara village in Chatra district on Monday evening, police said. The deceased was identified as Manish Kumar.
Accident Details
The accident occurred when Manish was driving a tractor loaded with soil to his field for levelling work. Witnesses reported that as he was preparing to unload the soil, the tractor suddenly tipped sideways, causing the engine to lift from the front. Manish was trapped underneath the heavy vehicle before he could react.
“The accident took place so suddenly that he did not get any chance to react,” a witness recounted. Manish sustained severe injuries to his head and body. Family members rushed him to Chatra Sadar Hospital, where doctors declared him brought dead.
Police Response
Sadar police station officer-in-charge Awadhesh Kumar Singh confirmed the incident. “After the postmortem examination, the body was handed over to the family. We are awaiting a written complaint from the family members for initiating further legal action,” he said.
MLA Visits Family
Soon after the incident, Chatra MLA Janardan Paswan visited the village and met the bereaved family, assuring them of all possible assistance. The local administration has been alerted, and further investigation is pending based on the family's complaint.
