LSG Bowling Coach Unfazed by Poor IPL Run, Backs Team to Bounce Back

Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) have been underperforming in the ongoing IPL season, securing only two wins from six matches and sitting just above the bottom-placed Kolkata Knight Riders in the points table. However, LSG's bowling coach Bharat Arun is not overly concerned about the team's below-par show and remains hopeful of a strong comeback in the upcoming games.

Bowling Coach's Perspective on Recent Defeat

When asked about the team conceding over 250 runs against Punjab Kings (PBKS), Arun downplayed the significance of that single game. He stated, "I will not read too much into that one game. Our bowling unit has done really well in the previous matches. Sometimes a game like that can happen. At certain stages, even the choice of balls may not have been ideal. But there is no major cause for concern because our bowlers are good enough to make a strong comeback." He emphasized that sport involves failure and, more importantly, how strongly one responds to it, which defines the character of a sportsman.

Early Wickets and Powerplay Issues

Addressing the lack of early wickets, Arun noted that LSG did get an early wicket, but PBKS batters played exceptionally well afterward. He admitted that the choice of balls during the Powerplay was not great, which is an area for improvement. "If you are bowling badly, that is a bigger problem. But if the issue is about making the right choices, that can certainly be corrected in the coming matches," he added.

Home Advantage and Batting Concerns

Despite not capitalizing on home conditions, Arun dismissed concerns about the pitch not suiting LSG's attack. He argued that the bowling has been reasonably good at home, and the batting unit is just one good match away from clicking. He pointed out that in the Punjab game, despite the loss, the positive takeaway was that LSG's batters managed to score close to 200 runs, which should boost their confidence.

Overseas vs Indian Bowler Balance

Arun highlighted that LSG's bowling attack is predominantly Indian, with Anrich Nortje being the only overseas bowler, who is now injured and has returned home. He expressed excitement about the Indian bowling unit and the team's belief in their abilities.

Focus Areas and Future Plans

When asked about the most concerning phase of the innings—powerplay, middle overs, or death—Arun refrained from revealing specific data but acknowledged that the team is aware of areas needing attention. He mentioned that bowling roles have already been reshuffled, and barring one game, it has worked well. On facing PBKS again, he said LSG would approach things differently, but details would be revealed only in a future match.
