Lucknow Super Giants head coach Justin Langer has thrown his full support behind wicketkeeper-batter Rishabh Pant, who has been struggling with form in the ongoing IPL 2026 season. Pant, who was acquired by LSG for a record price in the mega auction, has faced criticism for his below-par performances. However, Langer dismissed any notion that the price tag has added pressure on the player.
Langer's Firm Support for Pant
Speaking at a press conference, Langer emphasized that the team management has complete faith in Pant's abilities. "Rishabh is a world-class player. We all know his capabilities. The price tag is irrelevant once you step onto the field. He has our full backing, and we are confident he will come good," Langer stated.

Pant has managed only 156 runs in 10 matches this season, with a strike rate of 118. His form has been a concern for LSG, who are fighting for a playoff spot. Despite the dip, Langer pointed out that Pant's contributions behind the stumps and his leadership in the field are invaluable.

The Australian coach was quick to dismiss any suggestion that Pant's hefty price tag—reportedly around INR 27 crore—has weighed him down. "The price tag is for the auction. On the field, every player is equal. Rishabh is not thinking about that, and neither are we. He is focused on his game, and we are focused on helping him find his rhythm," Langer added.

LSG are currently placed fifth on the points table, with four wins and six losses. Langer revealed that the team is working on specific plans to help Pant regain his touch. "We have had conversations with him. He is working hard in the nets. Sometimes, it's just about one innings. We believe he is due for a big score," the coach said.
Pant's last significant knock came in the first match of the season, where he scored a fluent 42. Since then, he has failed to cross the 30-run mark. Despite this, Langer remains optimistic. "Champions are tested in tough times. Rishabh is a champion, and he will bounce back," he concluded.
