KKR Skipper Rahane Hails Allen, Spinners After DC Win

Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) captain Ajinkya Rahane heaped praise on centurion Finn Allen and the spin bowling unit after his team secured a comprehensive victory over Delhi Capitals (DC) in the Indian Premier League (IPL).

Allen's Blazing Century Sets Up Win

Opener Finn Allen smashed a scintillating century off just 45 balls, propelling KKR to a formidable total of 208/5 in their allotted 20 overs. Allen's innings was studded with 10 fours and 6 sixes, leaving the DC bowlers clueless. Rahane, who played a supporting role with a quickfire 45 off 28 balls, said, "Finn was exceptional today. His intent from the very first ball was brilliant, and he took the game away from the opposition. It was a pleasure to watch from the other end."

Spinners Dominate in Defense

Chasing 209, DC got off to a flying start, but KKR's spinners turned the game around. Varun Chakravarthy, Sunil Narine, and Suyash Sharma combined to pick up 7 wickets, conceding just 98 runs in their 12 overs. Rahane credited the spin trio for their disciplined bowling. "Our spinners are world-class. They know how to adapt to different conditions. Today, they bowled tight lines and picked up crucial wickets at regular intervals," he added.

Key Performances

  • Finn Allen: 105 runs off 45 balls (10 fours, 6 sixes)
  • Varun Chakravarthy: 3/22 in 4 overs
  • Sunil Narine: 2/18 in 4 overs
  • Suyash Sharma: 2/28 in 4 overs

DC's chase was led by David Warner (47 off 31) and Rishabh Pant (38 off 26), but they lacked support from the other batters. KKR's fielding was also sharp, with two run-outs affecting DC's momentum.

Rahane's Captaincy Praised

Rahane's tactical acumen came to the fore as he rotated his bowlers effectively and set aggressive fields. He said, "We have a balanced squad, and everyone is contributing. The spinners have been our strength, and the batters are stepping up. We just need to keep this momentum going."

With this win, KKR climbed to the top of the points table, while DC slipped to fifth. KKR will next face Rajasthan Royals, while DC will look to bounce back against Mumbai Indians.
