NEW DELHI: Kolkata Knight Riders defeated Sunrisers Hyderabad by seven wickets in the Indian Premier League on Sunday, bringing an end to SRH's five-match winning streak. Varun Chakravarthy claimed 3 for 36, while Sunil Narine took 2 for 31 as SRH were bowled out for 165 in 19 overs. KKR chased down the target with 10 balls to spare, securing their third consecutive victory.

Key Performances

Chakravarthy continued his impressive form, taking at least two wickets for the fourth straight match. Narine also reached a significant milestone, entering the 200-wicket club in the IPL. Playing his 197th match, Narine, who also opened the bowling for KKR, joined Bhuvneshwar Kumar (215 wickets in 199 matches) and Yuzvendra Chahal (228 wickets in 182 matches) in the elite list.

KKR's Chase

Chasing 166, KKR lost Finn Allen in the fourth over after his explosive 39 off 13 balls, when the score was 49. Captain Ajinkya Rahane played a steady innings of 43 off 36 balls, while Angkrish Raghuvanshi scored 59 off 47 balls. The duo added 84 runs for the second wicket in 11 overs. Rahane hit four fours and one six, while Raghuvanshi struck five fours and two sixes. Rinku Singh remained unbeaten on 22 off 11 balls, finishing the match with a boundary.

SRH's Innings

Earlier, SRH opted to bat and started strongly. They were 77 for 1 after the powerplay and 107 for 2 at the halfway stage, with Travis Head scoring a blistering 61 off 28 balls. Ishan Kishan contributed 42 off 29 balls. However, SRH then lost wickets in a heap, losing nine wickets for 60 runs in the last 10 overs. This was the first time SRH were bowled out in IPL 2026. Kartik Tyagi took 2 for 30 for KKR.

Head's innings included nine fours and three sixes. He and Abhishek Sharma (15 off 10 balls) added 44 runs in 3.4 overs. Head also shared a 61-run stand with Kishan. He scored four boundaries in Vaibhav Arora's second over, hit a six and a four off Narine in the third over, and three fours against Cameron Green in the fifth over. Head was dismissed on the last ball of the ninth over by Chakravarthy, after which SRH lost control of the innings.

Heinrich Klaasen managed only 11 runs and was dismissed after Rovman Powell took a catch at deep midwicket off Cameron Green, injuring himself in the process. It was Klaasen's lowest score of the season.
