The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is set to announce the venues for the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 playoffs within the next couple of days. BCCI secretary Devjit Saikia confirmed this development on Saturday at the BCCI headquarters in Mumbai, shortly after unveiling the squad for the 2026 Women's T20 World Cup.
BCCI Secretary's Statement on Venue Selection
"We are working on what could be the appropriate venue for the IPL playoffs and the final. So, we will take another two days' time," Saikia told reporters. He declined to specify whether the designated venues—Mullanpur and Bengaluru—which were associated with Royal Challengers Bengaluru and Punjab Kings as finalists and champions last year, would host the playoff matches. "You can keep guessing, but I am not going to give you a reply. We will take a call in two days' time," he added.
Previous Season's Venue Arrangements
In the 2025 season, Mullanpur hosted Qualifier 1 and the Eliminator, while the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad staged Qualifier 2 and the final, deviating from the convention that Eden Gardens in Kolkata would host the final. This change was necessitated due to the Indo-Pak war, which caused a temporary halt in the season.
IPL 2026 Schedule Updates
The BCCI has not yet released the complete schedule for the IPL 2026 playoffs, but it has confirmed that the final will be held on May 31. Fans are eagerly awaiting the venue announcements, which will determine the locations for the high-stakes playoff matches.
