ICC Team to Visit Bangladesh Over T20 World Cup 2026 Boycott

ICC Takes Action as Bangladesh Stands Firm on India Boycott for T20 World Cup

The International Cricket Council is making a significant move. An ICC delegation will soon travel to Bangladesh. They aim to discuss Bangladesh's participation in the T20 World Cup 2026.

Bangladesh remains firm on its decision. The government and the Bangladesh Cricket Board will not send their team to India for the tournament. They cite security concerns as the primary reason for this stance.

Security Issues Prompt Official Letter to ICC

The Bangladesh Cricket Board has formally communicated its position. BCB sent a letter to the ICC headquarters. This letter clearly states the board's refusal to travel to India for the mega event.

This development follows a recent incident involving a Bangladeshi cricketer. Mustafizur Rahman was removed from the Indian Premier League. The Board of Control for Cricket in India issued the order for his removal.

Sports adviser Asif Nazrul confirmed the ICC's planned visit on Thursday. He spoke to reporters at the Foreign Service Academy. Nazrul emphasized there is no chance Bangladesh will change its current position.

Bangladesh Willing to Play, But Only in Sri Lanka

The national team expresses strong interest in competing. Bangladesh wants to participate in the T20 World Cup 2026. However, they insist on playing all their matches in Sri Lanka instead of India.

"We are eager to play in the World Cup, particularly in Sri Lanka," Nazrul told the media. "I strongly believe that organizing this is not impossible."

BCB President Aminul Islam Bulbul informed Nazrul about the ICC team. The delegation is likely to come to Bangladesh for crucial discussions. Both sides have exchanged emails, but Bangladesh maintains its firm stance.

The T20 World Cup 2026 is scheduled to begin on February 7. India and Sri Lanka will jointly host the prestigious tournament. This situation creates a major challenge for cricket's global governing body.

The ICC now faces the task of resolving this diplomatic standoff. They must ensure the tournament proceeds smoothly with full participation. Cricket fans worldwide await the outcome of these high-stakes negotiations.
