Kozhikode/Kollam: Four persons were killed in three separate accidents in the state on Saturday.
Kondotty Accident: Minibus collides with truck
Two persons were killed and 15 sustained serious injuries when a minibus collided with a truck at Kondotty, Malappuram, early Saturday. The deceased were identified as minibus driver Raju (38) and passenger Ramani (60), both from Palakkad. The injured, some in critical condition, were rushed to Kozhikode Govt Medical College Hospital. The minibus was heading towards Kottiyoor in Kannur when the accident occurred around 12:30 am. Kondotty police have registered an FIR and initiated an investigation.
Mayanad Accident: Teen dies in scooter-bus collision
In the Mayanad area of Kozhikode, a 17-year-old died after his scooter collided head-on with a private bus. The deceased was identified as Ali Afaan of Melethattari. The accident occurred around 8:15 am. Video footage shows the scooter colliding head-on with the bus. The boy was traveling from the Medical College area towards Mudikkal Thazham. Medical College police registered a case and began an investigation.
Palkulangara Accident: 14-year-old boy killed
In Kollam, a 14-year-old boy was killed near Palkulangara after the scooter on which he was traveling with his mother collided with another two-wheeler, and he fell under a tipper truck. The victim was identified as Salman Faris, a ninth-standard student from Ayathil. Kilikolloor police reported that the accident occurred on a narrow road currently used by vehicles traveling in both directions due to ongoing national highway construction. Salman's mother Shamna was riding the scooter at the time. Preliminary investigation suggests the scooter lost control while attempting to overtake a lorry, colliding head-on with another two-wheeler. Both mother and son were thrown off. Salman fell beneath a passing tipper lorry and died on the spot, while his mother fell on the roadside. The body was shifted to the Govt Medical College Hospital, Parippally, for post-mortem. Police have registered a case of unnatural death and launched further investigation.
