Four members of a family from Vadodara's Tandalja area lost their lives in a tragic road accident on the Delhi-Mumbai Expressway in the early hours of Monday. The incident occurred on the Godhra–Vadodara stretch near Kalol in Panchmahal district when their car crashed into a divider.
The victims were returning to Vadodara from Sikar in Rajasthan after attending the condolence meeting of a family member who had recently passed away. They had left Vadodara on Saturday to visit relatives.
According to police, the accident happened on a recently opened trial section of the expressway. The car, reportedly traveling at high speed, lost control, swerved toward the divider, crashed into it, and then toppled to the other side of the carriageway.
Emergency services and the fire brigade rushed to the scene after the crash. The injured were taken to the Kalol referral hospital.
The deceased were identified as three brothers — Sajid Khinchi (55), Ilyas Khinchi (50), and Ishaq Khinchi (48) — along with another relative, Rehan Khinchi (35). A fifth occupant, Abdulrauf Khinchi (27), sustained minor injuries and is reported to be out of danger. The brothers ran a construction and real estate business in Tandalja.
The car was badly mangled in the impact. Police stated that three of the victims died at the scene, while the fourth was declared brought dead at the hospital.
