England's left-arm spinner has announced his retirement from red-ball cricket, bringing an end to a distinguished first-class career. The decision comes shortly after he played his final Test match against India at Old Trafford in Manchester earlier this year.

The spinner made his Test debut in 2021 and quickly established himself as a key figure in England's bowling attack. Known for his accuracy and ability to extract turn from helpful surfaces, he played a crucial role in several home series victories. His most memorable performance came against India in 2025, where he claimed a five-wicket haul in the second innings.
Manchester Test farewell
The Manchester Test against India in 2025 proved to be his swansong in red-ball cricket. Although England lost the match, the spinner received a standing ovation from the crowd as he walked off the field for the last time. He finished his Test career with 87 wickets in 28 matches at an average of 32.45.
In a statement, the player said, "It has been an honour to represent England in the longest format. I have decided to step away to allow younger players to take their opportunities. I am grateful for the support of my teammates, coaches, and fans throughout my journey."
